A Celebration of Courage: 2003 Felipa Awards

The SF reception will be Thursday, May 29th, at The Palm Room at the San Francisco Film Centre (in the Presidio) from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The NYC reception will be June 2nd, at the New York Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center (208 W. 13th St.) from 6:00.
IGLHRC is excited to invite you to join the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) as a sponsor of our 2003 Felipa Human Rights Awards:
The San Francisco Awards Ceremony and Gala Reception will be held on Thursday, May 29th, at The Palm Room at the San Francisco Film Centre in the historic Presidio, from 6:30 to 8:30pm (click here for directions), while the New York reception will be held on Monday, June 2nd The NYC reception will be June 2nd, at the New York Lesbian and Gay Community Services Center (208 W. 13th St.) from 6:00 to 8:00 pm (click here for directions).
IGLHRC is very proud to be able to present this year’s award to Lohana Berkins, a committed trans activist from Argentina. We will also show clips from a video about IGLHRC’s work narrated by Sir Ian McKellan.
This year, we are also excited to introduce our new Executive Director to you: Paula Ettelbrick. Paula is a proven leader and advocate for LGBTQ rights in the US, with extensive and varied work experience in civil rights and public policy. She served as the Family Policy Director at the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (NGLTF) from July 1999- December 2001 and was also the Director of Public Policy at the National Center for Lesbian Rights (NCLR) from June 1993-June 1994. Before working at NCLR, she was the Legal Director at Lamda Legal Defense and Education Fund (1988-1993.) More recently, she has worked as a professor of law at the University of Michigan, New York University, and Columbia Law School. Paula looks forward to meeting IGLHRC’s supporters and allies at both the SF/NY ceremonies and receptions!
