Job Title: Executive Director

Job Description:

The Executive Director shall serve as the chief executive officer of IGLHRC with overall responsibility for operations, programs, administration, day-to-day management, planning and fundraising. The Executive Director provides leadership, vision, strategic thinking and priority setting for the organization and is responsible for coordinating all departments for organizational coherence. These duties include the following:

  • Plan, implement and supervise IGLHRC's programs and activities in consultation with or at the direction of the Board.
  • Act as the principal spokesperson for and representative of IGLHRC to the public at large, other organizations, funders and government agencies and develop and implement public relations efforts.
  • Be responsible for hiring, developing, evaluating and terminating staff.
  • Develop proposed annual budgets with appropriate staff and members of the Board, implement and monitor the budgets adopted by the Board and present monthly reports to the Executive Committee of the Board on the financial condition of IGLHRC.
  • Assist the Co-Chairs of the Board in maintaining appropriate communication between the Board and the staff.
  • Carry out the resolutions, policies, instructions and goals of the Board and provide direction and information, when necessary, to the Board.

Qualifications desired:

Experience in international human rights work; experience working on LGBT issues; significant management experience, including fiscal planning and oversight; fundraising experience, particularly with individual donors and foundations; experience and excellence in public speaking and programmatic leadership; sensitivity to working internationally, particularly in developing countries; critical analysis of social, political conditions of social change and organizing; commitment to maintaining diversity in the organization; willingness to travel.
