I am happy to send you a postcard from my new post as Acting Executive Director of the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC).
Read about how IGLHRC and allies honored the International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia (IDAHOT), hailed on the front page of El Diario La Prensa as "DIA DE ACEPTACION" (Day of Acceptance). LGBT human rights defenders from Bangkok to Tehran, from Beijing to Capetown, spoke out against discriminatory laws and practices, marched, chanted and celebrated our day.
We are thrilled that this week Courage Unfolds, an IGLHRC film produced by and for activists throughout Asia to inspire social change, was one among the many brilliant films from 29 countries screened at KASHISH: The 3rd Mumbai International Queer Film Festival.
Finally, I recently joined Reverend Dr. Kapya Kaoma and Washington State Human Rights Commissioner Charlene Strong on the first-ever panel on LGBT rights at the World Affairs Council in Seattle, Washington. You can hear the audio online!
Hope you enjoy our good news and will write to me at email@example.com to share your news, too!
P.S. Join us on July 16 in New York for Celebration of Courage as we honor heroes among us — more on that next time. In the meantime, please invest in human rights for everyone, everywhere by making a donation today.
