IGLHRC Privacy Policy Statement
The International Gay & Lesbian Human Rights Commission (“IGLHRC”) is committed to protecting the privacy and integrity of personally identifiable information gathered from visitors to our website located at http://www.iglhrc.org (the “Site”). We have created this privacy policy (the “Privacy Policy”) to inform you about how we collect, protect and use the personal information that you provide and describe the choices you have concerning our use of such information. By using the Site, you consent to the data practices described in this statement.
“Personally identifiable information” is information that can be linked to a specific individual, such as, for example, a name, address, phone number or email address provided by a visitor to the Site. You do not need to share personally identifiable information to use the Site. You can visit most portions of the Site without telling us who you are and without revealing any personally identifiable information. Personally identifiable information is only requested when you wish to join IGLHRC’s mailing list, apply for a position at IGLHRC or donate money.
The Site is a general audience website, and IGLHRC does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If we discover that a person under 13 years of age has provided us with any personally identifiable information, we will delete that information from our systems. We are unable to reply to information requests from children under 13 years of age, if so identified. A parent or guardian must initiate any requests for information from children under 13 years of age on their behalf.
Like most web sites, IGLHRC may use Internet Protocol (IP) addresses to gather aggregate information about website usage in order to analyze trends, administer the Site, track visitor movement and click-through behavior, and gather broad demographic information that is not personally identifiable. This information helps us to better understand our visitors’ site usage patterns and the types of content and information that may help improve your and other visitors’ experience on the Site.
Cookies:
The Site may, from time to time, make use of cookies in connection with the operation of the Site. A cookie is a small piece of data stored on a visitor’s hard drive that is used to enhance a visitor’s experience by saving the visitor from having to log in or provide information each time he or she re-visits the Site and by customizing content based on a visitor's indicated interests. You can set your browser to notify you when you receive a cookie from the Site, giving you the chance to decide whether to accept or refuse it. You may continue browsing our Site even if you decide not to accept the cookie. However, if you decide to erase or block the cookie you may not be able to utilize some features of the Site.
Use of your Personally Identifiable Information:
We use your personally identifiable information to: (i) send you organizational updates, action alerts, press releases, information about IGLHRC programs, news, and more; (ii) process your résumé that has been submitted to us; or (iii) facilitate your donation.
You will only receive email newsletters and other promotional emails from us if you have made a donation, expressly signed up for a newsletter on the Site, or attended an IGLHRC event.
From time to time we may send out email on behalf of other organizations, but we do not provide such organizations with access to any personal information that you have provided.
Credit Card Donations:
When you make a donation by credit card using the IGLHRC Site your Personally Identifiable Information and credit card information is securely submitted to PayPal for processing. The Site uses industry standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption to transmit this information. For further details about PayPal’s privacy practices and security precautions, please consult their privacy policy directly from the link on our Donation page.
When you make a donation to us through the “Donate” button on our Site, IGLHRC shares your personally identifiable information with PayPal. IGLHRC also keeps a record of your personally identifiable information, so we may acknowledge receipt of your donation for tax purposes and, unless you ask us not to, include you on IGLHRC’s mailing list. If you do not wish to be added to our mailing list, our online donation form has an “opt-out” mechanism that can be checked for those users who wish to make donations, but do not want to receive any additional email correspondence from IGLHRC. You may also make donations anonymously by checking this preference on the donation page.
When you send a donation in honor or in memory of someone and request that an acknowledgment be sent to another individual/family, we will use the name and address of that individual/family for acknowledgment purposes only.
Email You Send to IGLHRC:
If you choose to correspond with IGLHRC through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of other information we receive by email.
Disclosure To Third Parties:
We will only share your personally identifiable information with PayPal (as described above), or with another third party, provided you give us your express permission, or if we are required by law to do so.
How We Protect Your Information:
